Tour of Blogland

Original post here

Happy Hump Day (or should I say pre-Turkey Day!)!  I’m beyond ready for a little break, some family time, and way too much food tomorrow followed by a little online shopping before hitting up the Black Friday sales.  Are you guys ready for tomorrow?  I feel like everyone has been running so fast recently and I hope you can take a little time to relax tomorrow and I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving tomorrow!  Be sure to check back on Friday and I will have my picks from all of the sales up.

I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s Tour through Blogland posts and was very flattered and excited when the always chic Ivette from Girl in a Hot City reached out to me about participating.  I don’t know how I discovered her blog, but I’m so happy I did!  She has amazing style and you should definitely check out her blog.  Discovering this amazing community of other bloggers has been one of my favorite parts of this journey, so I’m also excited to nominate two fellow Atlanta bloggers who I’ve enjoyed getting to know through blogging and hope you enjoy getting to know them as well!

1) What am I working on?
Right now, I’m trying to figure out how I can expand my current posting schedule to 5 days a week through the creation of a weekly series as well as playing with several ideas for a blog re-design.  For the past year or so, this has been a hobby, but I’m ready to make my little internet space more professional.

2) How does my work differ from others in its genre?
I’m still trying to figure out this out as there are a ton of other fashion bloggers out there.  I feel as though I discover another great blog every day or week.  However, the internet is big enough for all of us to have our little piece without stepping on each other.

3) Why do I write/create what I do?
I’ve always loved fashion and clothes, and toyed with the idea of starting a blog for a while.  I was always the one who my friends would ask for advice or before they bought an item.  On the blog, I want to share my love of looking creating great outfits without spending a ton through finding great deals and remixing pieces in your wardrobe.  I may splurge on my shoes, but everyone has a weakness, right?

I realized I need a creative outlet in my last job as a consultant where I was traveling every week and living out of a suitcase (picking just one pair of shoes for the week was always so tough!).  However, it was only after I quit that job last year and too some time last year to figure out what I wanted that I started my blog and I love seeing how it continues to evolve.

4) How does my writing/creating process work?
To be honest, this is something I’m working on.  I’m trying to get better at planning out my posts so I’m not up late the night before (like tonight) writing my posts.  I try to find creative inspiration in everything from what my co-workers are wearing (I have some amazingly stylish co-workers!) to magazines to blogs to Pinterest.  People watching is one of my favorite pastimes.  The writing process is a totally different story and a little bit of a work in progress as some nights the words flow and then others there’s nothing.  If you guys have any tips on writing inspiration, I’d love to hear them!

Now to introduce you to a few of my favorite bloggers!

We are Whitney and Blaire of the blog Peaches In A Pod.  We are neighbors and best friends living in Atlanta, Georgia who share a love of fashion and beauty.   We created this blog as a way of sharing our own personal style, and we have absolutely loved the experiences and friendships that our blog has brought us in the past year.  It's been so much fun chasing our little ones and our dreams at the same time.  We hope that you will check out Peaches In A Pod and follow us along on our fashion adventures.

Kate Style Petite is a fashion and food diary for a hungry Asian American trying to find clothes that fit in the U.S. She provides insights on styling and shopping for petites and sharing her favorite recipes and local eateries.

  2. I've loved reading this post, Nicole! It's great to learn a little bit more about you and realize that we have quite a few things in common ( like the writing process, or lack thereof!), ha ha. Thank you so much for your kind words and Happy Thanksgiving!

  4. How fun to read a little more of your behind-the-blog plans and a thoughts on the whole blogging process. I've definitely been there on the writer's block (and by the way, this whole post was really nicely written and a great read), but I've learned not to stress over it as much as I used to. With fashion blogs, people mainly want to see outfit pictures and less is more when it comes to words!
