Shopbop Friends and Family Sale

Weekly Weaknesses

I hope your week is going well!  I'm finally back home and can tell that I have spring on the brain as all I want to buy are colorful rompers, flowy dresses, and pieces that go from the pool to dinner.  I'm going to the beach next month and I'm obsessed with this bathing suit and might grab this dress to go over it.  Also, this bag is on my list as it is so chic and such a great deal at under $35!

There are also a few great sales going on right now/ interesting collaborations to look forward to.

Tibi is having an online sample sale, which is always a great chance to pick up one of their pieces for a great price. I'm trying to be good, but I have my eye on this top, this dress, and these boots.  Shop the sale here

Bloomingdale's is having their Friends and Family sale this week.  Take 25% your purchase (some exclusions apply) with code FRIENDS.  It is a great time to pick up on a pair of jeans, this BB Dakota faux leather jacket, or this jumpsuit.

I'm also counting down the days until Milly collaboration for Kohl's launches (an interesting choice....) and the Lilly Pulitzer/Target collaboration (lookbook here)launches on April 19th.

Shopbop Sale Starts Today!



Talk about kicking March off with a bang!  I'm so excited that the Shopbop sale started this morning (code BIGEVENT15) at 6:30 AM EST and runs until Sunday March 8th at 4AM EST, so there is plenty of time to pick up a few items.  It is their buy more, save more event (save 15% with purchase over $250, save 20% with purchase over $500, save 25% with purchase over $1000), which is always dangerous for my wallet.  I've picked a few of my favorite items above (trying to stay within a reasonable price range....).  I highly recommend this Clare V. clutch, which I've worn so many times on this blog (here, here, here, etc.), this BB Dakota jacket which is such a steal (last seen here), and any Schutz shoes (last seen here, here).  I'm so tempted to pick up this, so let's see if I remain strong or cave.

Spring Break - Beach Dreaming

Happy Friday!  I know we are all over this weather (except maybe those lucky enough to live in California).  Do you miss spring break?  I definitely didn't take enough trips over spring break in college, but I could use a week at the beach right now!

Day dreaming about the beach got the best of me this week(especially with our winter storm warning that ended up being a bust!), and I've pulled together a few of my favorite beach pieces.  This hot pink bathing suit is calling my name.  For the beach all I need a bathing suit, cover-up, hat and a few good books and I'm set for days.  Oh, and maybe a margarita also.

Were you all watching NYFW and all of the shows?   I had a little bit of FOMO until I saw how cold it was in NYC.  Then I was perfectly happy watching everything online.  I do not do cold weather well!  I still want to go to NYFW, only when it is warmer!  While there were a lot of great shows, I wasn't blown away by this NYFW as there were also quite a few shows that I just didn't love.  Based on the shows, I've pulled together a few of my favorite trends: fringe, black and white (shocker!), bright colors, and layering.  

Which trend are you most excited about?  I'm slightly impatient so one of my least favorite things about fashion week is waiting for all of the beautiful clothes that walked down the runway to hit stores (and my closet!).  To make the wait a little easier, I've pulled together a few pieces to help you incorporate the trends into your wardrobe now.

If you are a long-time reader of this blog, you probably know that I'm a big fan of purchasing pieces that I can wear season after season (gotta get that cost/wear down!).  With all of the spring clothes hitting stores and online, there are so many cute dresses tempting me (especially here, here, and here).  I refuse to purchase anything I can't wear now so I have to look for ways to make spring clothes winter appropriate.  This white dress at Piperlime caught my eye (especially at under $70!) and I couldn't resist pairing it with black and grey for winter.  In colder areas, I would probably add tights under the dress. And then of course nothing says spring/summer like bright accessories.   It's funny as I consider myself more of a pants person, but you might see a lot of skirts and dresses this spring/summer!

Valentine's Day Outfit Ideas

I hope your week is going well!  I've pulled together a few outfit options for Valentine's Day on Saturday no matter what your plans.  Outfit 1 is perfect for drinks with guy or gals.  This top is sexy without being too over the top as it is very covered up in the front.  I have a feeling that this beautiful pink dress in outfit 3 (from one of my new favorite labels Keepsake) is going to find its way into my closet.  It is perfect for a dressier dinner Valentine's Day date.  If you plans are more casual, maybe cooking at home (which sounds like my kind of date night), you can't go wrong with a great pair of jeans and a beautiful lace top.

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!  Are you ready for the weekend?  I know I am.  I've almost kicked this cold, but still sound awful.  I just need the weekend to rest up.  No real exciting plans here...  I've gathered a few of my favorite things from around the web this week and of course had to include a pair of shoes!



1. I've been a big fan of The Londoner for a while.  Rosie is witty, fun and a great cook.  Her recipes are normally very healthy (except for my favorite -the slutty brownies!).  Recently, she did a Zero Calorie Noodle Soup (the noodles are calorie free, not the soup) which looks delicious!  I love Asian soups so this one is right up my alley, maybe with rice noodles though...


2.  As I've gotten older, skincare has become so much more important, especially during these dry winter months.  I still commit the ultimate sin of sleeping in my makeup on the weekend occasionally, but I've become much better.  Grace recently did a post on glowy winter skin that I plan on trying soon (especially the part on pampering myself!)



3.  I've had a travel bug for the past few years and empty pages in my passport begging to be filled.  I was just invited to my friend's wedding in on a vineyard Provence, France this summer.  I've never been to Provence but am looking forward to fun with friends and lots of good food, wine, and of course macarons!




4.  Last year I fell in love with the Aminah Ambdul Jillil Bow Pumps, but stayed strong and didn't get them.  However, I recently saw the sandal version and might have to cave....  Now if only it would get warmer so I can get them (and this pair)!

Belk Trend Preview

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of going to Belk Spring Trend Preview, where fashion director, Arlene Goldstein, gave an overview of the four spring fashion trends below.

Spare Me - very architectural, lots of black, white and color blocking


Garden Party - Very feminine and romantic, with lots of florals and lace


Islander -  Exotic patterns (ikat, palms, etc) and fun matched sets


Sport Chic - Silhouettes borrowed from the gym


All of these trends have made me even more excited for spring and new spring clothes!  I would have thought that Spare Me or Islander would be my favorite trend, but given how many Garden Party items I added to my wish list (the 5 items below are just a few of the items I wanted...) you might be seeing a lot of florals and lace over the next few months.  What trend are you most excited about for spring?

Winter Beauty Favorites

I'm a relatively newbie to makeup as I didn't really start wearing anything beyond mascara and eye shadow until a few years ago.  Two years ago, I let my 16 year old cousin (and aspiring doctor/makeup artist) update my makeup.  Little did she know she was creating a monster!  

I've always had acne prone skin (even now...), so I try to be careful with what I put on my face.  I got a Clarisonic for Christmas a few years ago, but only started using it religiously 2-3x week for exfoliation and a deep clean 6-8 months ago.  My skin feels softer and smoother now that I've been consistently using the Clarisonic.  I've also started using the Josie Maran argan oil as a night moisturizer.  It absorbs quickly and doesn't feel oily at all.  I love it and would use it in the day if I could find a good sunscreen to pair it with.  

In terms of makeup, I've fallen in love with this Giorgio Armani foundation.  It gives a beautiful glowing, slightly dewy finish that I love.  It is expensive but so worth it and a little goes a long way.  I'm also obsessed with this NARS pencil.  It is very matte (but not drying) and last almost all day.  I'm already trying to figure out what colors I need for spring!

I know it looks like I use a lot of expensive products, but I also have some great drug store favorites including L'Oreal Voluminous mascara and ELF eyeshadow.

Weekly Weakness... Dreaming of Spring

I know that Atlanta winter is nothing compared to winter in other parts of the country, but right about now I'm ready for the spring weather to come. I missed out on the white dress trend last spring, but this JOA dress and this white dress are already on my list for spring.  I'm counting down the days until it is warm enough to wear these items, but until them I will have this tropical smelling NARS candle while I dream of spring.

Weakly Weakness - Great Basics on Sale

Splurge vs. Save - Sunglasses



I know that sunglasses aren’t normally at the top of one’s January shopping list, but I have to share my new favorite pair, which were a steal!  After bragging about how I never lose my sunglasses, I lost them on the last day of vacation in St. Martin.  Long story short, but there was a bomb threat which shut down the airport for several hours and I left them at security as I was rushing to catch my flight once the airport reopened.

I’ve been lusting after the Karen Walker Super Duper sunglasses for a few months, but couldn't justify them until I lost my previous pair.  I love the shape of her glasses and the tortoise color is more flattering on my skin tone than black.  I normally don't mind splurging on a pair of sunglasses because I keep that pair for several years.  However, leave it to Target to create a great option!  I didn't even go in for a pair of sunglasses, but I swear that place is so dangerous for my wallet!  I got the ATM pair above, which you can see here on my Instagram, but which ones would you choose?
