How to Wear the Sheer Trend - Dressy Version

Top: Elizabeth and James, last seen here
Skirt: Zara, similar
Jacket: Gap
Necklace: J.Crew, similar
Shoes: Kurt Geiger via Nordstrom Rack

I hope your week is going well!  I have a big work deadline on Thursday, so I'm looking forward to Thursday evening drinks with friends!

I bought this top during a sample sale and wear it a lot with jeans, but I wanted to try to dress it up for a potential dinner/fancy date.  I've wanted a skirt with a sheer bottom for a while, but was unsure of how much I would actually wear it.  When I saw this version in Zara for $25, I jumped on it as I it is a great way to try the trend cheaply before buying a more expensive version.  After trying to wear the skirt with a few different tops, I think I'm okay with the Zara version as I don't see myself getting a lot of wear out it.  I do love it with this top though!

My favorite part of this outfit is the shoes!  We all know I have a weakness for great shoes (here, here, here, you get the idea!) and when I saw these at Nordstrom Rack I had to have them!  I've talked a lot of crap about the shoe selection at my local Nordstrom Rack (after living near the one in downtown Chicago, nothing will compare), but the shoe selection has improved significantly for my last few visits.  I love that these are a basic pump, but the heel totally makes this shoe special (and it is actually comfortable!).  A win all around!

Have a great day!

  8. I think the skirt and top go fabulous together, I thought they were a dress! It shows just enough skin through the sheer to give a little sex appeal without losing class. Very chic.

  17. First of all I love that dress Nicole. The sheer panel is gorgeous and it fits you so well. Secondly, a Denim Jacket works with everything, including a Sexy LBD.

I'd love for you to stop by my blog when you can and check out how I am remixing my closet during a 30 for 30 challenge this month. =) Thanks so much.

Enjoy the weekend Nicole!! Ada. =)
