When I first bought this vest, I had no idea what to wear it with.  Or rather, everything I paired it with looked great in my head, but not in real life...  Does that ever happen to you?  I guess it isn't surprising that I paired it with this black and white outfit, lol!  I rediscovered this shirt recently and love how versatile it is.  Dots might be the new stripe for me!

I hope you had a great weekend!  I was up in NYC for the weekend to celebrate the wedding of one of my best friends from high school and college.  I always love going to NYC for any reason, but it's extra special when I can have a mini reunion with friends.

We all have our favorite pieces that we reach for time and time again and this outfit is a combo of most my favorites.  I wore this for a dinner with friends where I was running very late (no surprise...) and nothing in my closet looked right.  This trusty combo saved this day.  Why mess with what works?  Do you have a go to outfit?

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

I hope you had a great weekend!  I feel like I've been running for the past few weeks, so I took this weekend to relax.  I had a massage on Saturday, where I fell asleep and started snoring on the table....  I guess that means I was really relaxed!  Afterwards I caught up with friends at Community Smith and discovered my new favorite dessert, popcorn ice cream!  It is the perfect blend of sweet and salty and I'm not even a big ice cream fan.

I've ditched the winter coats (well, the Georgia version of a winter coat), and am transitioning to spring.  I've worn this vest before on the blog but it is the perfect piece to toss on as the warms up (and hopefully stays this way!).

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

I hope your week is going well!  When The Mint Julep Boutique reached out to me about styling one of their pieces, I was excited and a little nervous since I didn't know if I would find anything that was "me" since I' a little older than their target customer.  Little did I know that I would actually have a hard time narrowing it down to this dress!

In addition to the beautiful coloring and detailing on this dress, the best part about this dress is that I felt amazing in it.  Over the past week, I've had a few episodes at work and outside of work that have shaken my confidence and it was great to wear this dress out with friends for dinner and drinks.  That's not to say that I everything was instantly better and I don't have work to do to regain my confidence in certain areas (still trying to figure that out a bit...), but sometimes it is just nice to dress up in a pretty dress, hang out with friends, and forget all of your problems for at least a night.

Do you have a go to outfit that makes you feel great?

The lovely ladies at The Mint Julep Boutique are going to giveaway a $25 gift card to one lucky reader!  I would probably spend it on this dress, this top, or this dress.  I was very surprised at how quickly items move on their site so if you see something you like, jump on it!  I'm speaking as someone who waited too long on an item.....

I hope you had a great weekend!  It was a little chilly and gloomy here, but I can't complain since it was nothing compared to what my friends are experiencing in other parts of the country.

Do you ever have outfits that come together by accident?  This is an example of one of those outfits for me.  I rediscovered this faux fur vest in my closet and threw it one over my jacket on the way out the door since I wanted a little extra warmth.  I fully intended to switch the vest to wear under the jacket later.  However, I ended up liking up so much I kept the vest over the jacket.

Just a warning, when I took off my vest and jacket, I almost forget my vest at the bar since  don't normally layer the two.  Don't be forgetful like me!

Sometimes all you need is a statement piece to elevate your basics.  A grey sweater and boyfriend jeans has the potential to be a little too simple, but this necklace (and red lipstick) elevates them to anything but boring.  I've had my eye on this necklace for several weeks and finally decided to treat myself for my birthday at the end of January.  It is heavy but I love it.  Sometimes you have to #treatyoself!

Necklace: BaubleBar

Clutch: Clare V.
Bracelets: Baublebar (here, here, sold out, similar)
Watch: c/o Daniel Wellington

I hope your week is going well!  I know I've said that layering a dress over a turtleneck is one my favorite ways to make that dress winter appropriate.  I think this black turtleneck is one of the most loved items in my closet!  I've worn this Topshop dress on the blog before (last seen here), but wanted to dress it down a bit for work to drinks outfit (aka get another wear out of it!).  While I loved the way it looked,  I realized about half way through the day that this dress and the turtleneck weren't a very good combo when I had trouble lifting my arms above my head.  Oh well, thankfully I didn't have to raise my hand for anything that day, lol!

I hope your week is going well!  It's another day and another black and white outfit.  I had to throw in a little bit of color in the form of one of my favorite blazers in one of my favorite colors.  This jacket is the perfect pick me up on a dreary winter day.  Thanks for reading and have a great day!
