I hope you had a great Easter weekend!  My family always gets together for brunch/dinner and we usually spend the day reconnecting.  I'm very close to my parents and appreciate any time we can spend together.  We all get so busy that it is great to spend quality time together.   I hope you were able to enjoy the weekend as well.

I bought this dress during the last big Piperlime sale and while I really like it, I was a little surprised at how short the under skirt is!  I'm only 5'2 and this dress would be indecent on someone much taller than me.   It was final sale, but thankfully it was such a great deal.  I'm sure I can find a few places to wear it over the spring/summer.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Black on Black

Top: Fab'rik
Leggings: Spanx
Purse: Marc Jacobs, similar
Shoes: Rag & Bone
Earrings: Baublebar (here, here)
Bracelets: Baublebar (here, similar, similar)
Hat: Old Navy, sold out

I hope you had a great weekend!  I had a fabulous time in Denver at my friend's wedding.  She hosted her reception at an amazing restaurant, Beast + Bottle, that I highly recommend if you are ever in Denver!

It took me a while to jump on the leggings trend, but now I wish I'd bought a pair sooner.  I'm a sucker for anything leather or leather-like, so when I saw this top at Fab'rik, I knew I had to have it.  It runs small as I'm wearing a large, but I love the leather and zipper detailing which are a fun twist on a basic, black top.

Have a great day!

Shoes: Jimmy Choo, similar, similar, LOVE these
Necklace: Baublebar, sold out
Bracelets: Baublebar (here, similar, similar)
Earrings: Baublebar (here, here)
Purse: Marc Jacobs, old, love this one and this one

I hope your week is going well!  Can you believe that it is October 1st already?!  I feel like I blinked and September was gone.  Last night I had the opportunity to attend the Think Pink fashion show.  I mentioned that I had the pleasure of styling a breast cancer survivor for the show and it was a great experience.  I'm so happy I could be involved in raising money for a great cause.  I will be posting a full recap on the blog soon, but you can see a few pictures on my Instagram account here.

Leather is one of those fabrics that I can't get enough of as the temperature drops, so when I saw this dress in Zara I knew I had to have it.  I've been waiting patiently for the temperature to drop enough so that I don't melt while I'm wearing it and it's finally cool enough for me to wear it!  I love it with pumps now, but can't wait to pair it with tights and booties when it gets even cooler.  This dress will be seeing a lot of action this fall!

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Weekend Casual

Jacket: J.Crew
Top: Old Navy
Purse: Marc Jacobs, old
Shoes: Kurt Geiger
Bracelets: BaubleBar (here, similar)

I hope you guys had a great weekend!  Mine was busy with packing and errand running as I'm getting ready to move apartments on Friday.  After packing up my closet, I know I have a little bit (a lot) of closet editing to do.  Any tips would be much appreciated!!

I love to dress up as much as the next girl, but this outfit or something similar (with my leopard sneaker slides) is what you will find me in most Sundays.  Just a little warning, but now that it is cooler, I will be living in this jacket.  I wasn't sure how much I would wear these jeans when I bought them, but I wear them at least twice a week now.

What is your go to weekend outfit?

Stepping Outside of My Comfort Zone

Skirt: Express
Shoes: Kurt Geiger
Purse: Marc Jacobs, old
Necklace: BaubleBar, sold out
Bracelets: BaubleBar (here, similar, similar, similar)

Happy Friday!  What are you guys up to this weekend?  I'm off to Seattle for a friend's bachelorette party, which should be a lot of fun.  This friend loves good food and wine so I'm sure the weekend will include some amazing meals.

One of the things that I've tried to do since starting this blog is step outside of my comfort zone.  This blog itself is a huge step outside of my comfort zone.  My clothing comfort zone lies in solid colors, so patterns and pattern mixing are a big departure for me.  When Gina of On the Daily Express posted this skirt, I fell in love with it and felt inspired to try a little pattern mixing with it.  Some bloggers (Erica of Casually Styled) mix patterns so well, but it isn't something that I automatically think of.  Anyway, I figured I would give it a try.  I'm still not 100% sure I love it, as I think it photographed better than it looked in real life (Does that ever happen for you guys?  I feel like it is always the opposite...).  However, I decided to put it up and get your thoughts.  I'm sure I will back back to one print at a time next week.

Are you guys good at pattern mixing?

Skirt: J. Crew, other colors on sale!
Shoes: Schutz, similar
Clutch: Clare V.
Bracelets: BaubleBar

Happy Friday!!  I hope you have fun plans for the weekend!  I'm doing a staycation, which I'm so excited about.  I'm looking forward to catching up on some good books, time with friends, and a little pampering.

This week has totally emphasized the importance of picking pieces that can easily transition from day to night as I've had events 3 nights after work.  No one wants to change in their car (been there, done that), change at work and get lots of questions from co-workers (no thanks...), or find another place to change (locker room at the gym anyone?).

When I know I have an event after work, I generally wear a skirt or dress to work as I find them easier to transition.  I also have a few other key tricks to transition my look.

1. Switch your daytime tote for a  chic, smaller night version, like this leopard clutch.  I don't know about you, but the purse I carry to work has so much crap in it that it doesn't really work for after work events.

2.  Change into a dressier pair of shoes.  Shoes generally make the outfit for me and I never turn down an opportunity to wear those shoes that aren't quite office appropriate!

3.  Amp up the jewelry.  I've started wearing my arm party everyday to work, but I will usually add a pair of statement earrings or a statement necklace.

4. Freshen your makeup.  For me, this is generally just applying a little more lipstick as I'm usually running late and don't have time to do anything else.

Do you guys have any other day to night tips?

I hope you have a great weekend!  I'm taking Monday off so I will return on Wednesday with my regular posting.
